Anna Swope
Last week, the Center for Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) hosted a STEM Cadree Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) Forum at the University of Indianapolis. The forum was developed for educators to showcase best practices in integrated STEM education to fellow educators across Indiana as well as representatives from the Indiana Department of Education.
One of the presenters was Gary Community School Corporation STEM Coach Anna Swope, who teaches at Bailly STEM Academy in Gary. Swope was acknowledged for her “incredible contributions” by Stephanie Waring, STEM Project Manager of Five Star Technology Solutions.
“Anna’s contributions in particular helped create conversations that were engaging, pragmatic, and student centered,” said Waring. “I cannot tell you how impressed and grateful I am that Anna took the time to take part in this high-profile event. She represented Bailly and your school corporation in the best way possible.”
Bailly STEM Academy earned its State STEM Certification in 2022 and continues to enhance its curriculum and STEM experiences for all students enrolled at the school.
“It is an honor to represent a school district that contributed to my educational success,” said Swope, who attended Gary Schools. “Our students deserve every opportunity to be great, and we are committed to participating in professional development activities that introduce best practices that we can bring back to the district for implementation.”
The Gary Community School Corporation is enrolling students at all schools across the district. For more information, visit www.garyschools.org.
